Liberals and Democrats welcome continuation of EU food aid programme
The European Parliament today approved an agreement to continue a € 3.5 billion programme that delivers food aid to poverty-hit Europeans over the period 2014-2020. The on-going economic crisis has reduced governments’ abilities to provide for those facing extreme poverty. 43 million Europeans cannot meet their basic food needs. 18 million people now have to rely on food aid. The Fund for European Aid to the most deprived (FEAD) will help Member States break the vicious circle of poverty and deprivation.

EU food aid programme continues
