Discharge 2012: ALDE refuses to grant the Council discharge in respect of the implementation of its budget
Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Budgetary Control Committee (CONT) and newly elected Czech MEP, Martina Dlabajova, is in disbelief that the Council refuses to shed light on its spending of over €530 million during the financial year 2012. “How can the Member States legitimise to continuously neglect the Parliament’s questions and refuse to attend the hearings held by the Budgetary Control Committee on the Council’s financial management?” The European Parliament, in plenary session in Strasbourg, refused to grant the Secretary-General of the Council discharge in respect of the implementation of its 2012 budget.

Mexico: a human rights crisis that cannot be treated in isolation
The European Parliament today overwhelmingly adopted a resolution on the topic of the abducted 43 students in Iguala, Mexico, initiated by ALDE MEP Dita Charanzová (CZ, ANO), member of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly and standing ALDE INTA rapporteur on Mexico. This follows a protest of 50.000 people in Mexico City on Wednesday.
