Siemens to create 1000 new windfarm jobs in Hull

Yorkshire & the Humber MEPs Edward McMillan-Scott and Rebecca Taylor have welcomed the news that Siemens will build a major new wind turbine factory in Hull.

The manufacturing giant has finally confirmed, three years after the plans were first announced.

The new £160m investment is expected to create 1,000 new jobs in the region, while giving a boost to the offshore wind industry.

Edward McMillan-Scott said:

“This is excellent news for the region and the wind industry. As well creating new jobs and opportunities, the new deal is also an investment in green growth.”

Rebecca Taylor said:

“This is a big boost for the region and will undoubtedly go on to attract other major projects and investments.”
