Verhofstadt: “Refugee crisis is a disaster and justifies triggering emergency response article 222 of the Treaty”
– ALDE urges President Juncker and the MS to make the triggering of Europe`s emergency solidarity clause: article 222 the top priority of Sunday’s Summit –
“We need a humanitarian effort to at least provide tents, food and water to those trapped in the cold weather on Europe’s borders. People sleeping in the cold and in the mud, children without warm cloths and the total lack of coordination are unacceptable.”, Guy Verhofstadt, leader of the European Liberals and Democrats.

Extraordinary summit: “Tusk should put comprehensive asylum and migration package on agenda”, Guy Verhofstadt
Commenting on Tusk`s decision to organise a refugee crisis summit Wednesday next week, ALDE President Guy Verhofstadt said:
“I welcome Tusk’s decision, which is better late than never. But the summit should not merely try to find a deal on the relocation question, as even an agreement to relocate 160000 refugees will not solve this crisis.”

EU PNR: missed opportunity to end unlimited data collection – ALDE regrets EP vote for unlimited collection of passenger data-
The ALDE Group regrets that the report on the proposal for a directive on an EU PNR, which was voted this afternoon in the Civil liberties committee, does not contain a good balance between security and privacy.
