“To Potami can tame Euro scepticism in Greece”
ALDE leader Guy Verhofstadt has this evening congratulated Stavros Theodorakis, the leader of “To Potami -the River” on their expected result in the Greek elections. Exit polls show To Potami could achieve around 7% of the vote.

A “special Google tax” is not the solution
Senior ALDE MEPs have today responded to suggestions yesterday by EU digital chief Günther Oettinger that the European Union is considering imposing a tax on U.S. Internet companies such as Google as part of a new plan to build a single digital market. The new idea suggested by Commissioner Oettinger is a special tax for the Google News service and other taxes relating to search operations in Europe.

Syrian refugees: Greece must comply with international obligations
Cecilia Wikstrom MEP, the Coordinator for the ALDE Group on the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee, has today warned Greece that it must comply with its international obligations to accept and process asylum applications from the increasing number of Syrian refugees who are risking their lives to reach Europe.
